Mugs
Making mugs is one of my favorite pottery activities. Mugs are relevant to our contemporary
daily life . They enable the user close look at them and force him/her to grip and touch.
As a potter they provide me an exelent communication channel.

This mug belongs to more recent pots
  that are decorated with Hebrew
words and written images. Click to enlarge

Some technical notes:
All mugs were made from dark red stoneware clay, and fired in electric kiln to 1230 centigrade ( cone 7)
Pattern was made by pouring semi gloss white glaze over part of the mug, and decorating over raw glaze
with mixture of stain and feldspar. Next stage is to cover and protect chosen parts of decorated areas
with hot parafin wax resist. Next stage is to wash away excess unprotected white glaze.
Final stage is to coat with background glaze, usually by pouring a certain glaze inside the mug,
and cover the outside with another different glaze.
